Petrolimex makes positive contributions to Quang Ninh and national development

On May 18, 2018, leaders of the Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex/PLX) had a working visit to Petrolimex Quang Ninh.

An overview of the meeting

The delegation included former Chairman of Petrolimex Management Board Bui Ngoc Bao, newly-appointed Secretary of Petrolimex Party Committee and Chairman of Petrolimex Management Board Pham Van Thanh, Director General Pham Duc Thang, Deputy Director General Nguyen Xuan Hung and Chairman cum Director of Petrolimex Quang Ninh Nguyen Dong, and heads of some Petrolimex’s professional divisions and departments.

Secretary of Quang Ninh Province’s Party Committee Nguyen Van Doc, Chairman of Quang Ninh Province’s People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Long and leaders of some provincial departments and sectors received and worked with Petrolimex leaders.

At the meeting, former Chairman of Petrolimex Management Board Bui Ngoc Bao informed the host of the Group’s business performance outcomes as well as the implementation of social and political tasks assigned by the Party and Government in the past years, especially since Petrolimex restructured itself in line with the Prime Minister’s Decision 828/TTg and listed its shares on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HoSE).

The former Chairman of Petrolimex Management Board said: Besides the efforts of the whole Petrolimex managers and labourers for the Group’s present development, Petrolimex has always respected the trust, support, and facilitation of Party Committee and authority at all levels as well as local people of localities; particularly Quang Ninh Province which is home to Petrolimex member units including Petrolimex Quang Ninh and B12 Oil Terminal whose establishment and development were closely attached to historical stages of the country. The two units are currently carrying out a crucial task of ensuring sufficient and secure supply of fuel for a vast area in the North, making considerable contribution to the provincial State budget.

Petrolimex leaders would like to express sincere thanks to the province and hope to continue receiving the provincial authorities’ support to facilitate Petrolimex to better fulfill its duties in the era of international economic integration and competition.

At the working session, Secretary of Quang Ninh Province’s Party Committee Nguyen Van Doc acknowledged business performance outcomes made by both Petrolimex and Petrolimex Quang Ninh in the past years, emphasising that: Petrolimex should continue upholding the Group’s advantages, and building up long-term and sustainable orientations to develop the network and a contingent of leadership highly international and sensitive to the business environment in the integration trend for the Group’s sustainable growth in order to make increasingly positive contributions to the national and provincial socio-economic development.

Also at the meeting, Chairman of Quang Ninh Province’s People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Long applauded the impressive growth Petrolimex gained in all operation activities in recent years: Petrolimex’s modern - safe – effective material facilities and petroleum projects have made a marked contribution to ensuring energy security for Quang Ninh Province and the country as a whole. Of note, in 2017 Petrolimex Quang Ninh contributed up to VND7,000 billion to the State budget (US$307 million) including VND2,000 billion to the provincial State budget, an increase of 15 per cent over the previous year.

On behalf of Petrolimex leadership, Secretary of Petrolimex Party Committee and Chairman of Petrolimex Management Board Pham Van Thanh told the provincial authorities that Petrolimex pledged to make further efforts for its adequate development, maintain and improve the scientificness of the advanced material and technical facilities to continue making positive contributions to the province’s development in economic aspects as well as to present the corporate social responsibilities; through which making Petrolimex a strong economic group of Vietnam in the international arena.

On the occasion, Chairman of Quang Ninh People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Long presented a Certificate of Merit to the former Chairman of Petrolimex Management Board Bui Ngoc Bao and congratulatory flowers to the newly-appointed Secretary of Petrolimex Party Committee and Chairman of Petrolimex Management Board Pham Van Thanh.

Following the working session with Quang Ninh Province’s authorities, Petrolimex leaders paid a visit to Petrolimex Quang Ninh. On the occasion, Petrolimex Quang Ninh held meeting as a farewell for the retired and former Chairman of Petrolimex Management Board Bui Ngoc Bao and to congratulate newly-appointed Secretary of Petrolimex Party Committee and Chairman of Petrolimex Management Board Pham Van Thanh.
