On January 12, 2016, Vietnam National Petroleum Group (Petrolimex) solemnly celebrates the 60th anniversary of its establishment (January 12, 1956 – January 12, 2016), and receives the Independence Order, First Class (for the second time) awarded by the Party and State.

Petrolimex leadership receive the Decision on awarding the Independence Order, First Class (second time) for the Group.

Attendees of the celebration include representatives of Party, National Assembly and Government bodies, ministries, sectors, departments, localities, mass media, Petrolimex partners-trading partners-customers in Vietnam and abroad, Petrolimex former leaders through periods, and outstanding individuals who represent more than 28,000 Petrolimex cadres, officers and labourers.

The forerunner of Vietnam National Petroleum Group - the Gasoline, Oil and Grease Corporation - was established on January 12, 1956 in accordance with the Ministry of Commerce’s Decision No. 09/BTN, performing a lofty mission to ensure sufficient supply of oil and petrol for the whole country. Over the past 60 years, implementing the Party and Government guidelines and policies, generations of Petrolimex leaders, officers and labourers have always successfully fulfilled assigned tasks, developing Petrolimex into a big economic Group which is doing business across the country and expanding to the regional and international markets.

Acknowledging efforts and achievements of Petrolimex throughout its 60 years of establishment and development, the Party and State have presented Petrolimex numerous noble awards including: Ho Chi Minh Order (in 2006), Independence Order (First, Second, and Third Class), Labour Order (First, Second and Third Class), Feat Order (First, Second and Third Class), Fatherland Defence Order; Labour Hero in the Renewal Period (in 2005), Hero of People’s Armed Forces (in 2006), and three labour heroes (Le Van Thiem, Nguyen Ba Huu and Nguyen Thi Ngoc Thu). And today at the solemn celebration of its 60th anniversary, Petrolimex honourably receives the Independence Order, First Class for the second time granted by the Party and State.

At the event, on behalf of the Petrolimex leadership and employees, Secretary of Petrolimex Party Committee and chairman of Petrolimex Board of Director, Bui Ngoc Bao, presented a report on the construction and development of Petrolimex during the past 60 years and orientations for coming years. Having listened to directive opinions of Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang, Deputy Secretary of Petrolimex Party Committee – Board of Director member – General Director Tran Van Thinh expresses his gratitude to the directions and acknowledged contributions made by generations of Petrolimex cadres, officers and labourers through various periods to the national construction and protection.

In their speeches, Petrolimex leaders also show gratitude to the services of generations of Petrolimex cadres, officers and labourers; the effective co-operation of partners and trading partners; the trust and love of people, customers, and shareholders; especially the thorough care and direction of the Party, Government and leaders in localities during the past 60 years.

In addition, generations of Petrolimex cadres, officers and labourers show their pride to have completed assigned tasks, making considerable contributions to the national construction and defence during historical periods; becoming a prestigious brand to “go further” with partners, trading partners, shareholders, and customers in Vietnam, in the region and the world.

The anniversary also features a documentary entitled “60 years of Petrolimex: soldiers’ song” produced by Saigontourist Cable Television Company Limited (SCTV) in 2015. Following its screening on SCTV and VOV-TV, the chronicle will be broadcast on National Assembly’s TV channel as of January 12, 2016, expecting to reach all Petrolimex staff and audience nation-wide.

On the occasion of its 60th anniversary, Petrolimex has organised various promotion programmes to express its gratitude to customers and Petrolimex retired staff. Of note, Petrolimex has attached signs of significant works for four projects that have succeeded in applying modern science and technology and social security projects implemented in line with the Government’s Resolution No. 30a.

Over the past time, Petrolimex cadres, officers and laborers have implemented numerous emulation movements in production and business, physical exercises, and fire prevention and fighting drills; quite a few typical examples of outstanding individuals among Petrolimex staff have been recognised and honoured adequately.

60 years of construction and development witness six prominent features of Petrolimex as follows:

Firstly, always take the lead in ensuring sufficient supply of oil and petrol for the country in any circumstances.

Secondly, pioneer in the application of state-of-the-art science and technology into production, business, and corporate management.

Thirdly, ensure safety in all facets, making remarkable contribution to maintaining political security, social order and safety, and environmental protection.

Fourthly, always respect and have a consistent attitude towards the development of increasingly high quality human resources to fulfill short-term tasks and continue advancing the development of Petrolimex in the coming period of time.

Fifthly, bring into full play the strength of social and political organisations in the enterprise and of the whole staff, form emulation movements for effective production and business, and play an active part in social activities including social security and social charity through practical contents.

Sixthly, take the lead in realising Party and Government guidelines in privatisation, integration, competition and transparency of oil and petrol business.

In the spirit of respecting the past and previous achievements, the Petrolimex leadership determine four key tasks for the 2016-2020 period as follows:

Firstly, maintain the target to build Petrolimex into a multi-sector Group which is strong, dynamic and successfully integrating on the basis of restructuring approved by the Government, and select strategic shareholders for co-operation and deeper integration into the world economy.

Secondly, keep renovating and be creative to continue enhancing the leadership, management and administration capabilities cities in the professional, modern and civilised direction; and increase competitiveness to gradually improve business efficiency.

Thirdly, continue the development of business and trading activities in domestic, regional and international markets.

Fourthly, ensure better employment and income for all cadres, officers and labourers on the basis of increased productivity and business performance, build Petrolimex images and bring into full play Petrolimex corporate culture; playing an increasingly practical role in the national construction and protection to “go further”.
